REED

WILLIAM HENRY REED, m. SARAH ANN PINKNEY 12 Oct 1859 in Moultrie Co. probably Whitley Twp. Sarah Ann [1842-1879] was the second child born to Willson Pinkney and Mary Jane Martin. Her older sister, Anna Susannah, b. 1840, m. Jonatahn Graham 25 Mar 1854, porbably in Moultrie Co. These two girls wer orphaned in 1852 when their father died in Clay Co., IN. William Martin (perhaps William Harvey Martin their grandfather) was appointed their guardian in Coles Co., IL in 1853. The girls may have been living with their grandparents in Whitley Twp., Moultrie Co. until the death of William H. Martin in 1854. I would like to know where Sarah Ann lived between 1854 and 1859 when she married Reed. There is some speculation she may have lived with the Joshua G. Pinckney family of Lee County, IL. Any help will be much appreciated.

William Harper Reed [1815-1866] & his wife, Nancy Faris (Ellis ) Reed [1811-1881] moved to Moultrie County, IL, c. 1855, from Delaware Co., IN. There were 5-6 children in the family, including William Henry Reed [1837-1915], b. in Fayette Co., OH. Henry Ellis [1782-1857] father of Nancy, accompanied the family to & died in Moultrie Co., 8 Oct 1857. 12 Oct 1859, William Henry Reed, m. Sarah Ann Pinkney [1842-1879]. Three Reed children were b. in Moultrie Co.: Allen Franklin, [1861-1905] Margaret Jane [1862-1864] & Susan Martha, [1864-1950]. In 1866 the family moved to Labette Co., KS. Sarah Ann, b. in Coles Co., IL, was a daughter of Willson & Mary Jane Pinkney who both died prior to 1853. The Moultrie Co. Surname Index includes 34 Reeds one or more of whom may be related to William H. Reed. Since the migratory patterns frequently included several related families. I hope to determine the ancestry of this branch of the Reed family and will appreciate hearing from any potential descendant. Thanks.

RHODES

I am looking for all the information I can on Tobias RHODES. What I have so far is that he lived in Moultrie County. I have the census of 1850-1880. I have a list of many of his children. There are some names on the list I don't know who they are. I think that his first wife was Joice Wagoner. I think that he had another wife by the name of Jenettie. There is much information on Joice and very little on Jenettie. Tobias was buried with these two women. In recent research it appears that there was a wife between the two by the name of Ellen Hudson. Apparently they married 11/4/1845. I am a decendent of Tobias and Joice's son, Boone RHODES. I would appreciate any additional information on this character.

SCOTT

I am looking for information on Andrew E.D.Scott and Louis Kassuth Scott of Moultrie Co, especially information on their father, another Andrew.

Andrew E.D. Scott was b. 23 Dec 1848 in Moultrie Co. He was County Treasurer of Moultrie Co from 1877-1879, and again from 1881--1885. He left Moultrie Co abt. 1886 for California.

Louis Kassuth Scott was b. 22 Apr 1852 Moultrie Co. He was Deputy County Clerk for Moultrie Co from 1882--1898, and then County Clerk from 1898--1906, when he died before completing his second term. He is buried in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan, IL.
Their father Andrew died in Sullivan Co, MO in 1857, leaving his wife and nine children, some quite young. The family had moved to Sullivan Co in 1855; I believe Andrew's wife, Martha Jay Waggoner Scott, moved the family back to Moultrie Co because her parents (Amos & Narcissa Jay Waggoner) still lived there.

I am especially interested in pinning down Andrew Scott's place & time of birth; I have received conflicting information, but one of the possibilities is 1818 Moultrie Co. Can anybody out there assist me with this?

SHARP

I am searching for information on the parents of Wesley Allen Sharpe, born December 5, 1869 in Sullivan, IL, married Laura Etta Haulman on May 18, 1890 in Lovington or Sullivan, IL. They had three children: Eva born June 16, 1893, Zoe born May 3, 1891 and Virgil Eldo born August 9, 1895. Wesley was possibly the infant child listed on the 1870 census in the home of Robert H. SHARP, age 7/12 born Dec. However, the name listed for the infant was Andrew W. on the census. Some records refer to him as Wesley Allen SHARPE, others as Allen W. SHARP. Also, he may be William A. SHARP's son, since William's wife passed away in April and the census was taken in August at which time William was residing with his parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

STOVEALL/STOVALL/MORRIS

I am looking for descendents of Edan (Eaden) and Ruhamed (Ruhamey) (Stewart) Stoveall. Eden is the descendent of Bartholomew (the immigrant),Bartholomew II,. John, Ralph, James S. who was the father of Eden. Eden possibly was married first to ?? and had a daughter Elizabeth in 1843. Then he married Ruhamed and they had children Eden R. born 1849, Isaac B. born 1850, Luther born 1852 and Thomas William (aka Bill, William) born 6-7-1856 in Lovington, Moultrie Co., Ill He is our ancester. Think other children were also born in Moultrie Co. Eden died 1856-1859. Ruhamed remarried by 1859 to David Morris. They had several children--George who was 1 yr old in 1860 census and another known son D.C. (David, I think) who eventually moved to Mo. and visited often with his half-brother Bill who lived in Holt Co. Mo. In 1860 census Eden R. was living with the Stewart household, Isaac with the Benton household and Luther and Bill with the Morris household.

Would like correspondence with and any info on any of these descendents. This was the only generation I have found the name spelled Stoveall. In the Bill Stovall family it went back to the original spelling. Bill and wife Harriett Ann (Warren) were married 6-27-1875 in Sullivan, Moultrie Co. Ill. They moved at same time as a brother of hers to Holt Co., Mo where all their children were born.

SULLIVAN RETIREMENT HOME

I have hit a brick wall. I have a photo of my husbands gggrandfather. My father in law states that he and his wife moved from Tazewell County to some kind of retirement home in Sullivan in the early 1900's. The retirement home was a brick building and was maintained by a group like a legion of civil war veterans or something..Can anyone tell me if there was a facility of this type in Sullivan sometime after 1910 and before 1932 ( he died in Jan. 1930 and his wife the nxt year). If anyone knows of the existence of this place, do you know if they have any records anywhere? Any assistance will be appreciated...
