Mary b. 29 July 1785 (computed from grave stone) died 15 Oct, 1857 and is buried in Roland/Wright Cemetery, Moultrie Co., Ill. I am looking for probate or court records or any info as to her family. She had one daughter by John Gamble. Daughter was Elizabeth b. 1828 d. 8 Mar 1870 Ft. Dodge, Webster Co., Ia. and is buried there. She married Thomas A. Maddux/Maddox 30 Oct. 1848 in Pickaway Co., Ohio.
John had passed away in 1844 in Fayette Co, Ohio and Mary was apparently living with her daughter.
Did the Maddux own land in Moultrie Co.?
Any information would be appreciated.

I have looked through the online 1870 census for
Moultrie Co. and believe I have found this Jeffrey GOUGH as a 10 year
old in the household of an Azel YOUNGER in Marrowbone Twp. I also
found a 25 year old William GOUGH in Marrowbone, a 54 year old Charles
GOUGH and 18 year old John GOUGH in Sullivan Twp. I am hoping to make
contact with a GOUGH researcher that may know something about the
Rebecca E. WEBB that married Jeffrey GOUGH. I have no information on
the lives of the 3 children of my 2nd G-Grandfather William WEBB and
his 2nd wife Mary Jane WHITE-WEBB.

Looking for info on Elizabeth Jane Matheson. Married
Feb 1878 to John William C. Gryder in Alexander Co., NC. Two children
came from this union: Ida Grace Gryder (m. Simon Richard French) and
Charles B. Gryder (m. ??? Purcell). Elizabeth Jane Matheson Gryder and
the 2 children moved with Elizabeth's parents (John Matheson and
Elizabeth Moose) to Moultrie Co., IL sometime between 1878 and 1884.
As to the fate of her 1st husband J.W.C. Gryder...death?, divorce?,
abandonment?...that is a question I'd like to answer. His parents were
Wiley W. Gryder, Pvt.(CSA) & Elizabeth Malinda (Keever?) or
Alexander Co., NC. My ggg grandfather William Thomas 'Billy' Gryder,
older brother to Wiley. Both of the children were born before they were
married;Ida in abt 1873 and Charles in abt 1877. Mrs. Gryder remarried.
Most of this info comes from Shirley Lynn of Stonington, IL in an Oct
1999 letter I received from her. Did Ida Gryder French and Charles B.
Gryder stay in Moultrie Co., did they have any children? Any assistance
will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Moultrie
Researchers: I'm looking for more information on Emma Joslyn, who
married at age 20, Elmer Harmison in Sullivan in 1893. They had two
children that I know of,Chester and Ora. Lived in Lovington for years.
Old family tales say Chester Harmison died from poisoned
liquor...probably because he drank alot and was fooling around with
someone elses wife. As I said this is an old family "tale", don't
really want to suggest that it is true, but checking anyway. Chester
had a couple (?) dsof sons, William and "Badie". If anyone has a
clue.....HELP!!!! Thanks and good luck on y'all's searches.

We are researching my
husband's great grandfather: Lawrence S. HELM, he married Susannah REA
in Macon County, I think 1835. He went to the Mexican War from Macon
County in 1846. He must have left with Susannah in 1851 on the Oregon
Trail. Susannah died 28 Aug 1851 somewhere along the Trail and is
buried in an unknown site. I am wondering if there might be something
in the newspapers that area, re these events. We are especially
interested in learning where he was born, and who were his parents.

Looking for information a Mr. Henson. I was told that he was a probate judge
in your county, and may have been married to a Snodgrass. Other Hensons in the
area might be:
1) Margaret Hinson, who married John Dixon and died in Illinois; this was her second marriage. She was married to a
Springer first and had several children.
2) Julia Henson/Hinson, who married William Jordan.
Do you know anything
about these or any other Hensons/Hinsons in the area?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

census at page 21. It listed the following: William, 46 years of age;
Nancy, 27; James H.; 6, William A, 5; Martha J. 3; Mary A, 2 and
Gilbert D., 4 mos. I'm wondering if this is the same Martha Jane

Marion D WAGONER b.1881. At some point the family or at least Marion D.
moved to the Texas County and/or Douglas County Missouri area. Marion

HOSTEDER. Handwriting on the census was unclear. This is the spelling I
was given by an uncle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank

I'm looking for information on the family of Edward and Mary Jones. They had around seven children.
One was Grant V. Jones who lived near them in the 1880 census for Sullivan. One daughter Francis married a MacDonald.
My grandmother Emma Hoggatt Davis came to Sullivan in 1952 and wrote down dates from Jones family tombstones.
She wrote they were in Eass Park (?) Cemetary. Has anyone heard of this cemetary? (Editor's note: this sounds like
Seass Cemetery, but I can't find them in the MCHGS listings.)
